Falling in Love with Fall

The chill is in the air, the boots are moving to the front of the closet, and the HVAC bill is slowly decreasing ... Fall is almost here! We've been quiet all year at PrairieGR headquarters, but that doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work!

This fall is ALL about accessories: With PrairieGR, expect lots of trustworthy neutrals -- the perfect shades of grey, taupe, good ol' black and white -- with a twist (antique lace and buttons, maybe a kilt pin thrown in for good measure). We're not ignoring color for those of you who love it, whether you want it bright (kelly green, cherry red, antique gold, and vibrant, multicolored recycled silk) or subtle (sea and sky aqua, buttery yellow, olive green, shimmering gold and muted maroon).

The final touches are happening now ... you'll see us soon in Ivey, Local Honey, Oldmadegood, Nashville Clothing Co. and more!

Happy new year, lovelies! Things will probably be a little quiet in Prairieland for a while as we'll be taking time to regroup, clean up the yarn stash, try new designs, and take a class or two (both Sewing 101 and Knitting 101 were a total bust, but I'm willing to try again!). I'll leave you with a slideshow of some of our favorites from 2010, just in case you're still interested in ordering something (email me at prairiegoround@gmail.com if so! 2010 was our biggest year yet, and we have you to thank! We did more events than ever, including our first appearance in Chicago (we'll be back, Midwesterners!). We got some great press from our favorite local shopping blog Stella Shops and we were featured in the fabulous Nashville Lifestyles magazine in November.

Our events are as wrapped as the gifts under the pony xmas tree, but you can still get your P*G*R fix at our fabulous Nashville-area stores, which will carry our glovelettes, armwarmers, scarves and hats throughout the winter:

We are traveling to our other home, Chicago, for the Randolph Street Market/Modern Vintage Holiday Market. This event will be held Sat/Sun, Nov. 20-21, 10-5 each day at the Beaux Arts Plumbers Hall. There are going to be a TON of vintage, antique, and indie designer vendors here and we are *so* excited to be a part of this. Come say hello and get your holiday shopping done, or just buy something for yourself :)

Fall/Winter 2010 Preview!

Here are two of our favorites from the fall/winter 2010 line! We're pretty obsessed with lace--especially antique lace--as it looks so lovely with rugged neutrals. These are available in short and long styles in a variety of colors, from camels and greys (which are SO hot for fall!) to attention-grabbing red and blue.

Our first appearance this year will be at the Germantown Street Fest/Oktoberfest on October 10th in the Germantown area of Nashville, TN. Hello Friends!!!
Yesterday I did a photoshoot with the fabulous girls from Nashville Lifestyles magazine. I'm thrilled to announce that Prairie*Go*Round will be featured in an upcoming issue in the Style section.

In the meanwhile, I'm also taking some classes--knitting, sewing, and crocheting--so expect to see some cool stuff down the road from P*G*R, including warmer weather accessories, screenprinted products and more.

I also want to give a shout-out to Whitney Ferre, author, artist, mother, public speaker, entrepreneur, restaurant owner, etc., and creator of the Creatively Fit Program. Last night I attended an event for the launch of this program, which encourages women to attain a new balance between spirit, soul and body through a personalized "right brain boot camp." She has been an inspiration to me, and if you're visiting my site, I know she will be for you, too.

After years of utilizing a single crochet stitch, I FINALLY learned a new one. The problem is, I'm not sure what it is. I tried watching a crochet tutorial on YouTube and I think this started off as a double or a triple stitch, but I'm pretty sure I veered off path at some point.
Regardless, it's a pretty stitch and I am super excited to make some new things with it, including this Texas-approved scarf (I hear there is a big football game this Thursday).

Last PGR appearance of 2009 at the Franklin Dickens Fest This Weekend!

I don't have to tell you how freaking cold it is in Nashville right now, just go outside (if you dare!!!). Prairie*Go*Round will be making our last appearance of 2009 at the Dickens of a Christmas festival on the square in downtown Franklin this weekend. I'm at booth #41, right on the main square on Main St. near the festival headquarters.

I have so many new things that I'm excited to show you...the couture scarflette line, with tons of sparkles, lace, and other fun stuff; new kids' hats, and a ton of new glovelette designs. Here's a sampling of what I've been up to.
